أَلْهَاكُمُ التَّكَاثُرُ (1)
THE AVARICE OF plenitude keeps you occupied La course aux richesses vous distrait,
حَتَّىٰ زُرْتُمُ الْمَقَابِرَ (2)
Till you reach the grave. jusqu'à ce que vous visitiez les tombes.
كَلَّا سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ (3)
But you will come to know soon; -- Mais non! Vous saurez bientôt!
ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ (4)
Indeed you will come to know soon. (Encore une fois)! Vous saurez bientôt!
كَلَّا لَوْ تَعْلَمُونَ عِلْمَ الْيَقِينِ (5)
And yet if you knew with positive knowledge Sûrement! Si vous saviez de science certaine.
لَتَرَوُنَّ الْجَحِيمَ (6)
You have indeed to behold Hell; Vous verrez, certes, la Fournaise.
ثُمَّ لَتَرَوُنَّهَا عَيْنَ الْيَقِينِ (7)
Then you will see it with the eye of certainty. Puis, vous la verrez certes, avec l'œil de la certitude.
ثُمَّ لَتُسْأَلُنَّ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَنِ النَّعِيمِ (8)
Then on that day you will surely be asked about the verity of pleasures. Puis, assurément, vous serez interrogés, ce jour-là, sur les délices.
